Material lift or extra hands: how to choose before hire
Choose material lift hire only after load weight, dimensions, lift height and route are known.
Quick answer
A material lift helps with controlled vertical positioning on suitable flat ground. Extra hands or specialist lifting may be safer when the load is unknown, awkward, structural, on stairs or near a limit.
Checks before hire
- Know the actual weight and dimensions
- Measure lift height and route width
- Check floor level, thresholds and turns
- Keep people out from under suspended or raised loads
What to tell the hire desk
Describe the job, material, scale, access and what would make you stop. That gives the supplier a better route to the right machine, consumables and PPE than asking for a tool name alone.
Stop condition: Stop if weight is unknown, the load is structural, people would be under it, ground is uneven or the route includes stairs without a competent handling plan.
